Alexander Penchev,

Managing Director
Expert with more than 30 years of professional experience in the field of Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy Sources (RES), sustaibale policy and strategy.
Consulting services related to the norms and regulations on utilization of renewable energy in Bulgaria.
Alexander is an author of more than 80 publications and scientific articles in Bulgaria and abroad, as well as an author of 13 patents in the field of RES and EE, out of which four integrated.
In 1995, ESD Ltd. UK won PHARE Energy Project "Technical and Economic Assessment of RES in Bulgaria" and Alexander has been invited to lead the Bulgarian team of RES experts. After the completion of the project, in cooperation with Mrs Albena Yanakieva and Mr Mike Bess from ESD Ltd./Camco they established ESD-Bulgaria Ltd.
Alexander and the ESD-Bulgaria team has successfully developed and implemented over 60 projects in the field of RES and EE under the EU funded programs PHARE, SAVE II, ALTENER, THERMIE B, as well as projects funded by the Government of Netherlands, UK Government, etc.
Alexander also manages and participates in the development and implementation of the following activities:
• Reduction of GHG emissions in the atmosphere;
• Energy audit and energy efficiency in buildings;
• Structural evaluation of energy demand;
• Heat storage technologies;
• Identification and selection of RES project proposals;
• Design of solar installations for domestic hot water;
• Assessment of market potential and market penetration of RES;
• Energy planning;
• Technologies for energy utilization of biomass;
• Norms and regulations on utilization of renewable energy resources in Bulgaria;
• Monitoring of the operation of renewable energy systems;
• Training in the field of RES: solar, geothermal, biomass, small HPPs, biogas, wind;
• Training for assessment of energy potential from RES and selection of Renewable Energy Technology (RET);
• Pre-feasibility studies, etc.

Albena Yanakieva,

Operational Manager
After the successful completion of the PHARE Energy Project "Technical and Economic Assessment of RES in Bulgaria", where Albena was Project Coordinator, in 1998, Albena, Alexander Penchev and Mike Bess (ESD/Camco) established ESD-Bulgaria Ltd.
Albena is a leading expert with proven 15 year experience in the development, implemenetation, management and monitoring of international RES and EE projects. She has implemented and managed various projects under PHARE, SAVE II, ALTENER, THERMIE B EU funded programs, as well as a numerous projects funded by the Government of Netherlands, UK Government - DFID, DEFRA, FCO, private international companies.
Albena continues to develop and implement RES and EE projects. She participates in the development of local sustainable energy plans and strategies.
Since December 2005, Albena is the Operations Manager of the company, responsible for the successful management of the company and the development of the business, as well as for the overall management of the local and international projects of ESD-Bulgaria.
Albena is also responsible for:
• Development of "corporative partnership" with Bulgarian and International clients;
• Internal financial management;
• Selection, management, training, motivation, assessment and discipline of staff, distribution of resources and tasks under projects;
• Supports and motivates each team member to achieve the set individual targets, to reach efficiency and high quality of work;
• Preparation of concept notes, project proposals, LOI, as well as development and implementation of sustainable energy projects.

Sonya Petkova,
MSc, Physicist Engineer
Principle RES and EE Consultant
Sonya joined ESD-Bulgaria in 2001.
In 2006, Sonya undertook successfully the training course for energy audit, pasportization and certification of buildings, organized by the Energy Efficiency Agency (EEA). Since 2006 she is the team leader of the EE team, who have in their portfolio over 200 sites, audited for energy efficiency (schools, hospitals, kindergartens, administrative and commercial buildings, warehouses, residential buildings and individual houses) in Bulgaria, UK and South Africa.
In 2008, Sonya attended a training course in Edinburgh, UK, on the methodology and algorithm for assessment of carbon footprint and since 2009 is heading the team, responsible for the carbon footprint of a company, event, activity, service, product, etc.
In the period 2001 - 2008 works under various projects funded by the PHARE, SAVE II, ALTENER, THERMIE-B, DFID, DEFRA, FCO and other donor programs.
As Senior RES and EE Consultant, Sonya manages and coordinates Bulgarian and international RES and EE projects. She actively participates in the development and implementation of energy efficiency projects, preparation of plolicies, plans and strategies for energy savings, RUE and integration of highly efficient, low emissions technologies for production, transfer and management of energy, study of energy markets.
Sonya has considerable experience in the field of sustainable development. The portfolio in the field of rebewable energy and sustainable energy covers more than 40 Bulgarian and international projects. She is responsible for:
• Bussiness development;
• Client relations;
• Monitoring and management of projects;
• Preparation of strategies and plans for encouragement of rational utilization if energy and renewable energy sources;
• Examination of the energy market - structure of energy consumption, market potential and market penetration;
• Development of methodologies and computer models in the field of energy efficiency, renewable energy and GHG emissions;
• Energy audit of buildings, analysis, pasportization and certification of buildings;
• Monitoring anan management if energy issues in the field of energy efficiency;
• Training;
Sonya is also responsible for the marketing and advertizing, as well as computer and web based technologies.

Marina Savova,

Operational accountant
Marina joined the company in 2003.
As Operational Accountant, she is responsible and works in close cooperation with the accountancy team, controlling the accountancy documents, related with the financial operation of the company.
Marina has wide experience in the development of the project budgets, monitoring of project costs and preparation of the financial reports under the international projects.
She is responsible for:
• Preparation of local amd international project proposals - Financial part;
• Preparation of project reports - Financial part;
• Trainings - funding of projects, accountancy, audits, monitoring, reporting;
• Data collection and processing of data for ESD-Bulgaria's carbon footprint;
• Provision and control of safety labour conditions;
• Organization of seminars and trainings.

Ventsislav Ivanov,

Energy Efficiency Technical Consultant
Ventsislav joined the team of ESD-Bulgaria in 2006.
In 2006 he undertook together with Sonya and Georgi the training course for energy efficiency in buildings, organized by the EEA.
Ventsislav is certified by the EEA as expert in electrical engineering and member of the ESD-Bulgaria team, registered officially in the list of companies, in accordance with Art.23, paragraph 4 from the Energy Efficiency Act (EEA). Since 2006, his portfolio in the field of energy efficiency in buidings includes 120 audites (schools, hospitals, kindergartens, administrative and commercial buildings, warehousesm residential buildings and individual houses) in Bulgaria and abroad.
As EE and Electrical Engineering Consultant, Ventsislav participates in the development and implementation of energy efficiency projects, preparation of policies, plans and strategies for energy savings, RUE and integration of highly efficient, low emissions technologies for production, transfer and management of energy, study of energy markets.

Georgy Georgiev,

Georgy joined the team of ESD-Bulgaria in 2006.
In 2006 he undertook together with Sonya and Ventsislav the training course for energy efficiency in buildings, organized by the EEA.
Georgy is certified by the EEA as expert in constriction technology and architecture and member of the ESD-Bulgaria team, registered officially in the list of companies, in accordance with Art.23, paragraph 4 from the Energy Efficiency Act (EEA). Since 2006, his portfolio in the field of energy efficiency in buidings includes 120 audites (schools, hospitals, kindergartens, administrative and commercial buildings, warehousesm residential buildings and individual houses) in Bulgaria and abroad.
As Energy Effieciecy Technical Consultant and Architect, Georgy participates in the development and implementation of energy efficiency projects, preparation of measures for rational utilization of energy resources in buildings, through modern artchitectural solutions for energy savings and preservation of the comfort of the inhabitants.

Luchezar Stamov,

Luchezar joined the team of ESD-Bulgaria in 2006, together with Ventsislav and Georgy.
Luchezar has undergone the training course for energy efficiency in buildings in 2005.
Luchezar is certified by the EEA as a heat engineering expert and member of the ESD-Bulgaria team, registered officially in the list of companies, in accordance with art.23, paragraph 4 from the Energy Efficiency Act (EEA). Since 2006, his portfolio in the field of energy efficiency in buidings includes 120 audites (schools, hospitals, kindergartens, administrative and commercial buildings, warehousesm residential buildings and individual houses) in Bulgaria and abroad.

Mariana Doynovska,

Junior EE analyst
Mariana joined the ESD-Bulgaria team in 2008.
As the youngest representative of the company, she is currently responsible for verification of energy efficiency in boilers and a/c systems in buildings.
As Junior EE Analyst, her primary responsibilities are:
• Preparation of heat and technical experise;
• Identification, collection and processing of primary information for energy audit and certification of buildings;
• Capturing and measuring on site the identified energy indicators of systems, equipment and divices;
• Verification for correspondence in the different sections of the building documentation;
Mariana is involved in the implementation of energy efficiency projects, as well as rational utilization of energy and energy resources and market studies.
In 2009, she was trained and became a member for performance of carbon footprint of company, event, activity, service, product, etc.
